Is this a ministry you are being called to?

The Bereavement Committee at St. Benedict's is a ministry whose mission is to reach out to parishioners who are mourning the death of a loved one. In providing consolation, support and hope, we make an effort, as representatives of their Catholic community, to share their grief.

In 1986, the Bereavement Committee at St. Benedict's was founded by a young widowed parishioner, Mary Lou Kaye, and funeral director, Richard Wedekindt. Since then, we have provided prepared food, sent sympathy cards, Spiritual Remembrance cards, and helpful literature to numerous families who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The committee maintains a rack in the vestibule of the Church with literature on grief and personal loss.In November, a Memorial Mass is offered for all our deceased loved ones with special remembrance for those who have died since the previous November. At Christmastime, a Memorial Tree is placed in Church. The parishioners are encouraged to decorate the tree in remembrance of their deceased loved ones.

In order to continue to serve those who are grieving, this ministry needs your assistance. Since there are so many opportunities to serve on the committee, many hands are needed. Please consider joining.

If you would like to become a member of the Bereavement Committee or if you have any questions, you can call Corinne Baier at 832-9864 or Annmarie Hutchison at 834-5654.

CONSIDER...

"It is not the actual physical exertion that counts toward a man's progress, nor the nature of the task, but the spirit of faith with which it is undertaken" -- St. Francis Xavier

Minute Meditations

  • I like to be part of the challenge that we all have from the gospels: to convert. As John the Baptist says, “To make straight the path.” There’s always an opportunity to straighten out the crooked path.Moved by Faith

GARDEN PROJECT
MOVES FORWARD

Our Generations of the Faith and First Communicant families have agreed to lead the project to "reinstate the garden" behind the Catholic Charities building.

We invite all of you to be a part of it! Please come on Saturday, May 19th starting at 9:30 am (pray for sunshine!) and we will work together to restore the gardens!

We plan a cookout at noon and we invite you to please join us and bring a dish to pass. Please RSVP to the Rectory by phone or email with your attendance and the number in your family who will be attending.

This is such an inspiring project and we hope as many of you can come as possible. Thank you!
