The Philosophy of the Religious Education Program
The staff of St. Benedict's Religious Education Program believes that they are an integral part of the parish community whose mission is to communicate the teachings and values of Jesus to the young people of our times. Led by the Word of God and inspired by the Holy Spirit, we strive to build attitudes and decision-making abilities that reflect gratitude for the gift of life in ourselves and others. We teach our students that we are a worshipping, Sacramental people, nourished by the Eucharist, striving together to more perfectly love God, others and ourselves.
Our goal is to build strong Catholic Christians for now and the future. Our philosophy reflects our belief that we are God's people, deeply loved by him, a people journeying towards a future full of promise and challenge, strengthened by our belief in Jesus and eternal life.
WHAT MAKES OUR PROGRAM SPECIAL?
◦ We keep our classes small so that there is ample time for application and discussion. Most classes are ten students.
◦ Our staff has received Diocesan Certification, they are volunteer members of the parish with deep Faith and commitment.
◦ We use the latest and best teaching materials provided from Sadler Publications, called "We Believe".
◦ Our AV library contains over 150 religious videos and Bibles for the students.
◦ There is a strong emphasis on Scripture, Morality and Liturgy in our programs. Every class begins reflecting on the Sunday Mass readings.
◦ The students have an opportunity for Mass and Confession.
◦ We encourage Service Work and include it in our program.
St Benedict's Religious Education Program is open to children of St Benedict's Parish who attend public schools. The program also welcomes all students preparing for First Penance, First Eucharist and Confirmation. Our sacrament preparation programs offer meetings for parents, retreats for the student and a meaningful celebration of the sacrament.

I like to be part of the challenge that we all have from the gospels: to convert. As John the Baptist says, “To make straight the path.” There’s always an opportunity to straighten out the crooked path.Moved by Faith

GARDEN PROJECT
MOVES FORWARD
Our Generations of the Faith and First Communicant families have agreed to lead the project to "reinstate the garden" behind the Catholic Charities building.
We invite all of you to be a part of it! Please come on Saturday, May 19th starting at 9:30 am (pray for sunshine!) and we will work together to restore the gardens!
We plan a cookout at noon and we invite you to please join us and bring a dish to pass. Please RSVP to the Rectory by phone or email with your attendance and the number in your family who will be attending.
