Our Pastor, Father Joseph Porpiglia, attended Wadham's Hall College, in Ogdensburg, NYand Christ the King Seminary in East Aurora NY. He served as a seminarian and Deacon here at St. Benedict’s in 1985-1986. He was ordained a Priest on April 12, 1986 by Bishop Edward Head.
Since that time, Fr. Joe‘s assignments have included: St. Amelia’s Parish in Tonawanda and St James Parish in Jamestown. Before being appointed Pastor of St. Benedict’s, Fr. Joe served as pastor of Holy Cross Parish in Salamanca.
Fr. Joe is also a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy. He has served the Church and our country in this capacity for 19 years and holds the rank of Lieutenant Commander. While at St. Benedict’s, Fr. Joe served our combat troops in Afghanistan.
Fr. Joe serves on the Council of Priests for the Diocese of Buffalo and currently chairs their Finance Committee.
