Proposed Projects:
The Advancement, School Finance, Parish Finance and Buildings & Grounds Committees have reviewed the following proposals and estimates regarding the upgrade of the technology and communication in the school which will also improve safety and security. We have prioritized these projects that are planned for the summer of 2008 in the following order:

Computers to the classrooms:
We currently have computers in the computer room and library. The plan
is to move the current computers in the computer room out to the
classrooms and purchase new computers for the computer lab.

Wiring the classrooms in
the building: $14,000

Buying new computers for
the computer lab: $20,000

Replacing the server:

Telephones in every classroom:
Currently we only have phones in the offices and the cafeteria in the
school. We need to improve communication between classrooms and the
offices. We currently are using walkie talkies in case of emergencies.
In order to complete this project we will need to wire all the rooms for
phones and upgrade the main system.

New PA system in the School:
The current PA system is an antique dating back to the early days of the
school. It is supposed to be a 2-way system where teachers can talk
back to the office. Several rooms do not work. The phone system will
solve the 2-way communication problem, but we still need a PA system for
announcements.
Cost: $17,900 includes the new system
plus wiring and speakers in all rooms.
Proposed Fundraising
The committees have decided to reach out to the St. Benedict Alumni and
current parents of the school for financial support of these projects.
Our hope is that 140 families will make a $500 contribution. We are
also planning to reach out to some of our benefactors to make a more
substantial contribution.
